JAKARTA, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Sales of electricity generated from renewable energy sources grew by 14 percent year-on-year to 13.68 terawatt hours (TWh) in the first half of this year, Darmawan Prasodjo, president director of Indonesia's state-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PT PLN), said on Thursday.
Darmawan emphasized that the availability of green electricity from PLN supports the industrial sector in meeting market demand for products made using environmentally friendly energy sources, particularly those derived from new and renewable energy.
"This is a key factor in maintaining the competitiveness of our industry," he said.
"PLN is committed to enhancing industrial competitiveness by providing green electricity services that are 100 percent sourced from our new and renewable energy plants through the Green as a Service Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) program. We are ready to meet the green electricity needs of the business and industrial sectors through a fast and easy process," Darmawan added.
He also expressed optimism that customer interest in REC clean electricity services from the industrial and business sectors will continue to grow in the future. ■
