BANGKOK, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's consumer confidence dropped for a sixth straight month in July, slipping to the lowest rate in 31 months due to concerns over local political instability, border tensions, and U.S. tariffs, a survey showed on Thursday.
According to the survey of 2,243 respondents conducted by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the consumer confidence index fell to 51.7 last month from 52.7 in June as all components of the index decreased.
The university's president, Thanavath Phonvichai, said that consumer sentiment showed no signs of improvement, with purchasing power remaining subdued alongside the ongoing sluggish economic recovery. ■
